Michael Moore - clarinet & alto sax
Pianist Achim Kaufmann and alto sax and clarinettist Michael Moore have been playing together for around 25 years - mostly improvising, playing original material and Herbie Nichols pieces. This August 1st release is no exception, except that this time we also delve into the oeuvre of master composer/pianist/bandleader Andrew Hill for 1/3 of the program. We recorded two concerts, in Köln and Berlin in september of 2022, the largest portion of which is now being released on a two CD set. Our approach is playful and conversational, and I find that these recordings display a musical depth and maturity that can only come through a long-term relationship. |
